Description

To help you better understand post-disaster insurance issues, where the changes are occurring on new flood maps in some of the impacted areas, and how your knowledge of both of these topics can benefit your clients, FEMA has partnered with local communities, Texas Department of Insurance, and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to hold a series of Insurance Workshops in multiple counties across Texas. Insurance agents will receive CECs for the session on map changes. CFMs will receive CECs for this workshop, also.

There is no charge for the workshop and we encourage you to share information about the event with other real estate professionals, lenders, surveyors, builders and insurance agents. Space is limited based on the venue, so mark your calendar and click the REGISTER button on this page to reserve your seat. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. to allow us time to seat our guests. There will be a break for lunch. Insurance agents will need to bring their license number and ID when they sign-in to receive CECs at the workshop.

Post-Disaster Insurance topics include:

  • Insurance Basics for Stakeholders

  • Claims process

  • Rating

  • Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC)

  • NFIP Direct vs WYO

  • Insurance Resources and Marketing

Updated Flood Mapping Effects on Insurance topics include:

  • The Newly Mapped Procedure and Grandfather rating options,

  • Impacts of reform legislation and changes to the National Flood Insurance Program

  • Using online tools and resources to assist you.

In addition, the Texas Department of Insurance will share resources and information at these workshops. This information is valuable to real estate professionals, lenders, builders, and surveyors, as well as insurance agents.
